Needlework Art Show: Cascade Stitchers, Embroiderers' Guild of America
User: Ann Simas
Needlework by Cascade Stitchers, a chapter of The Embroiderers’ Guild of America (EGA), will be on display from September 29 through November 25 in the art gallery at the offices of Donald Dexter, DMD, 2233 Willamette Street, Bldg. B, in Eugene. An Artists’ Reception will be held on Monday, September 29, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. The public is invited at no charge; refreshments will be served at the reception.

Featured at the show will be a variety of embroidery types, including needlepoint, counted cross stitch, appliqué and beadwork. Many of the pieces have taken hundreds of hours to complete using complex designs and dozens of different types of stitches and needlework techniques. These amazing and beautiful pieces of textile art utilize a variety of fibers, such as dyed threads, silks, metals, cotton and wool, and are stitched on fabrics such as congress cloth, aida cloth and various linens.

Dr. Dexter’s office is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, and closed alternating Mondays and Fridays (phone 485-6644 for closed days). Dexter designed his dental clinic to accommodate art displays, including a community component for showing local artists. “Art,” he says, “...has always held a high value in my life...and is a benefit that I feel fortunate to be able to share with my patients and the community.”
